This book addresses the interplay between viruses and their host organisms. The first five chapters have been reorganized to reflect growing appreciation of the host immune response and how viruses cause disease. It discuss virus infections that transfrom cells in culture and promote oncogenesis in animals. This book also presents about the vaccines and the approaches and chanllenges of antiviral drug discovery. The origin of viruses, the drivers of viral evolution, and host-virus conflicts are presented. The principles of emerging virus infections, and humankind’s experiences with epidemic and pandemic viral infections are also considered. This book is appropriate for undergraduate courses in virology and microbiology as well as graduate courses in virology and infectious diseases.
